    The Linguistic Data Consortium at the University of Pennsylvania has
    immediate openings for two programmer analysts to support our rapidly
    growing linguistic resource creation projects. The primary function
    of one position is to support the Less Commonly Taught Languages
    (LCTL) project at LDC (http://projects.ldc.upenn.edu/LCTL), and the
    primary function of the other position is to support the LDC
    annotation group in general.

     - Programmer Analyst - LCTL project support (#060720279)

       Duties: This position will design and develop multi-modal
       multilingual software for collecting, normalizing, processing and
       annotating language data; work with annotation project managers to
       develop and execute tool specifications; coordinate a small team of
       part-time programmers to provide timely support of project goals;
       support both in-house and international user communities; modify
       and improve existing software libraries; prepare and disseminate
       multi-modal and multi-lingual data sets using standards such as
       Unicode and XML; document tools and data formats; use techniques in
       natural language processing to analyze multi-modal dataset;
       interact with domain professionals at international meetings and
       via e-mail discussions; publish results.

     - Programmer Analyst - Annotation group support (#060720369)

       Duties: This position will support large-scale linguistic data
       creation projects by developing software, such as text and speech
       data processing tools, analysis tools, and data harvesting tools
       which follow project managers' specifications; serve as a technical
       lead or a technical support member in linguistic annotation
       projects; prepare and publish linguistic corpora; respond to
       projects' technical needs and provide timely support and solutions
       as necessary; support both in-house and international user
       communities; and maintain relational databases.
