    Hello Lia,

MICASE is made up of spoken discourse as far as I know.

Re tagging for evaluation (appraisal systems), software is being worked on but it's not an easy project, given the delicacy of the systems...For tips you might contact Lexie Don at eldon@panix.com

as she's been doing a lot of this in her corpus.

    Best,
    Donna

Subject: [Corpora-List] Reference corpus of Academic English

    Dear All,
I made up a specialised corpus of scientific research article abstracts (time span 2000-2005), now I am looking for a reference corpus of academic English (preferably written register). I was thinking about the MICASE or?
Furthermore, I intend to tag it semantically for specific investigations like textual colligation, evaluation and cohesion. The authors I am referring to are Hoey, Hunston & Thompson, Martin. Does anybody have any hints, clues or pieces of advice to suggest?
    Thanking you for your colloboration.

    Best wishes
