Call for Tutorial and Workshop Proposals

The Program Committee of The 11th MACHINE TRANSLATION SUMMIT (MT SUMMIT XI) invites proposals for tutorials and workshops. The tutorials and workshops will be co-located with MT Summit XI at Copenhagen Business School, Copenhagen, Denmark. Tutorials will take place on 10 September; workshops on either 10 September or 11 September.
I. Tutorial proposals
Tutorial subjects can cover technological, practical and educational issues in Machine Translation. The tutorial organizers will be responsible for advertising the tutorial, and guaranteeing a high quality MT-relevant training, worthy of the prestige and range of the conference.
The tutorial proposals should include
- Length of the tutorial (half day or full day)
- Title of the tutorial
- Outline of the tutorial
- Intended audience (introductory, intermediate, advanced)
- Complete information on the presenter(s) (name, affiliation, mailing address and e-mail
address, brief biography)
- Description of why the tutorial is important for MT development
- Short description on how the tutorial will be advertised so as to ensure a sufficient
audience
After the acceptance of a tutorial proposal the organizer(s) should:
- Create a "Call for participation" for the tutorial (to appear on the MT Summit website,
the MT list, and elsewhere)
- Create a Web page for the tutorial, the link of which will be published on the - MT
SUMMIT XI Web site
II. Workshop proposals
Proposals for workshops are invited for one-day workshops which focus on specific problem
areas of machine translation and to advance the state of the art in these areas. Particularly welcome will be workshops that bring together researchers and practitioners to share research results and practical development experiences in relevant fields. Issues on teaching machine translation to different groups of students (computer scientists, linguists, translators, language administrators, language learners, etc.) can be of special interest.
The workshop organizers will be responsible for advertising the workshop, reviewing and
selecting the papers, and guaranteeing a high quality of presentations and workshop
activities. The workshop organizers need to make sure that each submitted paper will
receive at least two reviews.
The workshop proposals should include
- Theme and goal of the workshop
- Complete information on organizers (name, affiliation, mailing address and e-mail
address, brief biography)
- Proposed members of a Board of Reviewers (Workshop Program Committee)
- Description of the workshop topic
- Description of how the workshop will contribute to the field of Machine Translation
- Planned activities
- Short description on how the workshop will be advertised so as to ensure a sufficiently
wide range of submissions and high quality contributions
- Estimate of the number of participants.
After the acceptance of a workshop proposal the organizer(s) should:
- Create a "Call for papers/participation" for the workshop (to appear on the MT Summit
website, the MT list, and elsewhere)
- Create a Web page for the tutorial/workshop, the link of which will be published on the
MT SUMMIT XI Web site
- Review and select papers
- Organize the creation of the final versions (to be ready one month before the Summit
takes place). It is proposed that published proceedings of workshop will be in a standard
format, to be determined later by the Summit organizers.
- Schedule the workshop activities
