    Dear List Members,

    I am looking for studies, experiments or any source of information about the principle of 'user warrant' applied to language or language-related issues.

    I have the following three pieces of information about this principle:

    1) It is mentioned in the standard ANSI/NISO Z39.19-2005 (NISO, 2005);

    2) It is included in the Guide to the Development and Maintenance of Controlled Vocabularies in the Government of Canada;

    3)It is interpreted by Mark Rosso in the following way: "if the majority of the participants agree that a web page is of a particular genre, then it is”. (Rosso, 2005: 104)".

    I would like to know more about the validity and applicability of this principle. Any reading suggestion is highly appreciated.
