Text Mining Position, School of Computer Science, University of
Manchester and National Centre for Text Mining
One Research Associate is required for 24 months for an EC 6th Framework
Information Society Technologies collaborative project entitled
Bootstrapping of Ontologies and Terminologies. The project aims at
building reusable wide-coverage lexical, conceptual and factual
knowledge resources for the biology domain, to support text mining. This
involves both exploiting existing terminological resources and
automatically acquiring new terms and concepts and associated linguistic
information from the vast amount of literature.
The successful candidate will be part of the growing team of researchers
associated with both the National Centre for Text
Mining(http://www.nactem.ac.uk <http://www.nactem.ac.uk/> ) which is
hosted by the School of Computer Science and the Manchester
Interdisciplinary Biocentre (http://www.mib.ac.uk
<http://www.mib.ac.uk/> ).
Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent research experience in
Computer Science with emphasis in text mining or a related topic.
Candidates should preferably also have a good working knowledge of
natural language processing, machine learning techniques and ontologies.
