    Research Associate in Natural Language Processing
    Department of Computer Science, University of Sheffield

    Applications are invited for a researcher to work on an EPSRC-funded
    project focusing on the development of Word Sense Disambiguation
    algorithms for biomedical documents. The successful applicant will be
    responsible for the implementation of Word Sense Disambiguation
    algorithms, their adaptation to the biomedical domain, and their
    evaluation and application. Candidates should hold a Masters degree or
    PhD in Natural Language Processing (or a closely related subject) or be
    able to demonstrate equivalent research experience. Strong programming
    skills, preferably in Perl, Java or C, are essential. Candidates will be
    expected to work within a large research group and may collaborate with
    other research groups. The post is tenable immediately for one year,
    with the possibility of extension.

    Experience of any of the following would be highly advantageous:
    * word sense disambiguation
    * biomedical text processing
    * terminology identification
