Aslib's TRANSLATING AND THE COMPUTER 28 Conference
    16-17 November 2006, Kensington, London

    -------------------------------
NEWS: We are pleased to announce that Yves Champollion will be the keynote
speaker. The title of his session is:
Very Large Translation Memories: is the free model viable?
Building a set of very large translation memories supporting all language
combinations is a challenging project. The VLTM project aims at offering
translators a repository of TM in all languages, made available for free,
with a search-engine approach. The author will explore the technical,
entrepreneurial, and deontological aspects of this idealistic project,
discuss its feasibility, and present the current state reached by the
    project.
Yves is a consultant working with governments and large accounts for
translation/localisation projects. He is also the developer and owner of
the Wordfast and PlusTools suite of CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation)
tools. This suite is popular among translation agencies and free-lance
translators, with over 10,000 licenses in use.
More news to be announced shortly.
