This was actually a study of Blake's long poem "The Four Zoas", and
it was not a stylistic analysis but rather a study of distribution of
different images across the text, with the goal in part to discover
an overall structure of the poem. This was possible because Blake
explicitly associates various images with one of four compass points,
each representing a different major aspect of existence, and also
because there are some books defining the (more or less) universally
accepted semantic properties of images. These sources were relied
upon to avoid, to the extent possible, a purely subjective
interpretation of Blake's images and symbols.
