You should also check out E-Sword: http://www.e-sword.net/
You can download numerous versions of the text of the Bible usable
    with the program here: http://www.e-sword.net/bibles.html

The file format is probably decipherable after extracting it. An
even more promising solution might be to use http://www.macsword.com/
    if you have a mac.

It uses Bible modules from the SWORD project, available here: http://
    www.crosswire.org/sword/index.jsp

There is even a SWORD API http://www.crosswire.org/sword/software/
    index.jsp for Linux.

Many of them are freely available, and easy to parse.

Here is a direct link to Bible Text modules from SWORD: http://
    www.crosswire.org/sword/modules/ModDisp.jsp?modType=Bibles
