    Dear all,

for those of you who are interested, here is a summary of the mails I
received about the availability of a French gazetteer:

Diana Maynard suggested using the gazetteer included in Gate
Dusko Vitas mentioned Denis Maurel's Prolex @
    http://tln.li.univ-tours.fr/tln_prolex/prolex.php
Marcirio Silveira Chaves pointed me to TGN @
    http://www.getty.edu/research/conducting_research/vocabularies/tgn/
Jesus Jimenez sent me nice list of websites which don't contain a
gazetteer, but are nonetheless very interesting to look at:
    World locations: http://earth-info.nga.mil/gns/html/cntry_files.html
    France locations: http://earth-info.nga.mil/gns/html/cntyfile/fr.zip
    United States place names:
    http://geonames.usgs.gov/domestic/download_data.htm
    Other: http://www.mit.edu/~mbf/instances.txt.gz

Thanks a lot to all of you who contributed.

    Best regards,
