    The Department of Lexical Studies at the Institute for the German Language
    (IDS) located in Mannheim, Germany, is developing a comprehensive,
    electronic information system for the lexicon of contemporary German
    (elexiko - Wissen ueber Woerter [Knowledge About Words]). This project is
    seeking a programmer/computational linguist for a part-time position for
    the duration of two years commencing January 1, 2006.

    Elexiko is a corpus-based "dictionary" compiled on the basis of scientific
    conceptions; at the same time, elexiko will also publish further
    lexicographic research results from additional IDS projects.

    Job description:
    * The further development and programming of the editorial interface of the
    data base (especially the user interface);
    * Optimization of the XML-Editors for the examination of lexemes;
    * Programming of style sheets for viewing on-line articles from XML instances;
    * Support of the technical realization of the lexicographic network concept
    and development of reference management.

    Salary:
    * BAT IIa (50%) (German Statutory Salary Scale)

    Qualifications:
    * MA/MSc, preferably in computational linguistics or computer science;
    * Several years of experience with XML and related technologies, in
    particular, XSLT;
    * In addition, proficient data base knowledge (ORACLE) is required,
    especially the command of PL/SQL. Practical experience with the use of
    Oracle XML Development Kits (XDK) is advantageous.

    The Institute for the German Language strives to maintain its balanced
