    LOCATION

Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) is the largest and best-known bath resort in the
Czech Republic. The foundation and development of Karlovy Vary has always
been connected with the curative effect of its warm mineral springs, which
marked the whole spirit of the city. The city has also a rich cultural
tradition. The spa society meeting has been getting a more and more
international character since the early 18th century (e.g. Johann Wolfgang
    Goethe, Peter the Great).

The city's spa centre, which is the most attractive from the visitors'
point-of-view, is situated around the meandering Teplá River. It is
surrounded with the hilly landscape and the forests shaping up the typical
spa scenery. The Moser glass and bitters Karlovarská becherovka (38 % of
alcohol, 10 % of sugar), known as "the thirteenth spring", are the
traditional specialties of Karlovy Vary. The Karlovy Vary International
film festival of category A presents annually more then 200 films from
    the whole world.

    GETTING THERE

The town is located not far off the Czech-German border on the international
road E48. The local airport has a regular connection with Prague and Moscow.
Karlovy Vary has a very good bus connection with Prague (125 km) and can be
also reached via train through border crossing Schirnding – Cheb (60 km from
    town Schirnding) or through Johanngeorgenstadt.

    SOCIAL EVENTS

The TSD 2005 conference will also include an excursion to the production
