    The Division of Computational Linguistics in the Department of
    Linguistics at the University of Tübingen, Germany is searching for a

                           a computational linguist

    with research experience in one or more of the following areas:

            stochastic and corpus-based approaches to computational
            linguistics; machine learning; finite-state approaches to
            computational linguistics; computational lexicography.

    Knowledge of German is highly desirable. Preference will be given to
    applicants in the above mentioned areas. However, outstanding
    applicants in other areas of computational linguistics who complement
    existing strengths in the department will be considered. Duties for
    this post include independent research and participation in
    externally-funded, on-going research projects. Further information

    The earliest starting date for the position is January 1, 2002. The
    position is funded until December 31, 2005. However, shorter periods
    of employment are also possible.

    The position is at the rank of "Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter"
    (M.A. or equivalent required; Ph.D. or equivalent preferred). The
    salary is determined by the German civil servants payscale
    (Vergütungsgruppe BAT IIa) and amounts to approximately 42.000 Euro
    per year. The exact salary amount varies depending on age and marital
    status.
