Corpora: computing syllables---crude methods

I've posted my syllable prediction code (a simple lisp function) at

ftp://ludwig.pharm.uic.edu/pub/predict-syllables.lisp

I know it fails on embedded silent "e" as in "pacemaker", and it probably
fails on some other two-vowel combinations.

It ain't pretty or fast, and I make no guarantees, etc. Do with it what you
will. Since there's some interest, I'll post some accuracy data from a list
of about 8000 generic drug names. Unfortunately, the names themselves come
from a licensed database, so I cannot share them.

P.S. Bill Fisher's code sounds much more impressive.
