Back to copyright the eternal headache.
I don't know what sort of texts you are using but for my work I had to ask
all tha journals individually. Some said yes, for me, some said yes for me
and others. A lot never answered. The finest was Springer Verlag who
eventually said yes provided I contact each author individually.
Basically most science journals require authors to hand over copyright, so
they are the ones to negotiate with. Copyright generally lasts 70 years. A
single copy for research is admitted but scanning generally is not. If you
want to pass on the corpus to others you will need someone behind you to
get decent permissions. My own corpus has very very acess permission,
depending on text, author and journal.
