PART-TIME RA/PROGRAMMER POST AT LANCASTER

An opportunity is about to arise for a part-time RA/programmer to work on
a project at UCREL (University Centre for Computer Corpus Research on
Language), a joint research centre of the Departments of Computing and
Linguistics at the University of Lancaster.

The project is funded by ATR of Kyoto, Japan, and involves a team of three
analysts annotating a large and varied corpus of textual data with grammatical
analyses. The RA/programmer's task would be the support of this team of analysts
and the maintenance and extension of the project's suite of special- and
general-purpose software (written in the C programming language).

The post is half-time, for 6 months in the first instance, and is on an
approximate annual salary of 16,000 pounds sterling (pro-rata). It would
commence as soon as possible. Applicants should have a good knowledge of C;
experience of X Windows programming would be an advantage, but linguistic
knowledge is not required.

If you are interested please send details to Roger Garside, Department of
Computing, University of Lancaster, Bailrigg, Lancaster LA1 4YR. Informal
enquiries may be made to rgg@comp.lancs.ac.uk or 01524-593803.
