Thanks & web search?

Thanks to all those who I haven't been able to reply to personally
for the anniversary data. I think I can provide an
exhaustively-researched case, thanks to all of you.

A while ago I think someone on this list mentioned doing a KWIC search on
the WEB. I tried the site (lost it now), but couldn't get it to work.
It's a great idea, though, and in princible, I don't see why it should
be difficult to do topic-based or maybe even some basic text-type-based
string searches (e.g., search for a string in all business reports --
however these might be identified. Even without this level of
sophistication, has someone else got this kind of search to work?
The web must be the mother of all corpora, and no problems of storage
(though speed is of course slow). I'm kind of corpus-hungry (not being
a European with a BNC at my elbow).

It'd sure be a nice project to build such an engine/ site if there isn't
one already.

John
