Subscribers to Corpora may be interested to know that Blackwell Publishers
recently published 'Text and Corpus Analysis' by Michael Stubbs.

It is designed to introduce students to basic methods of corpus analysis,
with a clear progression from the use of concordances in analysing
individual texts, to more complex quantitative analyses of large text
corpora.

The book contains authentic examples from millions of words of corpus data
and from many types of naturally occurring texts such as, school books,
courtroom language, speeches by politicians and other public figures.
Lexical collocations, modality, transitivity, causativity and agency are
analyzed to provide many clear examples of how such patterns convey
attitudes, presuppositions and points of view.
