Thematic Networks are part of the EU Socrates programme for higher education. Since the introduction of Thematic Networks in 1996, networks on "Speech Communication Sciences" and "Advanced Computing in the Humanties (ACO*HUM)" were supported among 31 other networks. Our thematic networks unite a large number of European university departments in their attempts to define recommendations on developments in higher education in language and speech, to dissiminate best practise and to stimulate the European dimension in education.
